Begin at the Beginning

Ok....The preliminary papers have been sent to Adoption Advocates International. It's kind of scary, and exciting. I guess we need to wait for two weeks to hear from them and I'm not sure what is supposed to happen then. The desire is for two girls between 5-9 years old. But really, what will God have for us?

*Done*-File I600A with BCIS
*Done*-Fingerprints
*Done*-Complete homestudy- send to AAI and BCIS
*Done*-Paperwork authenticated in Washington DC
*Done*-Dossier to Ethiopia
*Done*-Dossier translated
*Done*-Child identified (can happen anytime in process til this point)
*Done*-Dossier approved by Children's Commission in Ethiopia
*Done*-Acceptance papers sent to AAI
*Done*-Orphanage prepares documents for court
*Done*-Paperwork sent to court, then a few weeks later...
*Done*-Court date assigned, then a few weeks later...
*Done*-Court date!!!!! Then a few days later...
*Done*-Court produces decrees
*Done*-Decrees translated
*Done*-Apply for new birth certificates
*Done*-Apply for passports (only a few/ wk, only on certain days)
*Done*-Visa Med. checkup and 2nd HIV test
*Done*-Obtain letter from Children's Commission (takes a few days)
*Done*-If parents are traveling, travel permission given.
Visa issued (takes 2 weeks-can be done while parents are in Ethiopia)
Child HOME!!!!!!!
